Conflicts and disclosures

Owned organisations, commercial relationships and how they are kept separate from clinical decisions

A transparent ledger of every clinic, company, lab, technology platform and charity Professor Lee has founded, directs or holds a commercial interest in, and the policy that keeps clinical suitability decisions separate from commercial framing.

Section 01

Why this page exists

Professor Paul Lee has built a body of clinical, academic, research and innovation work that spans more than one organisation. Several of those organisations were founded by him, are directed by him, or have a commercial relationship with him.

That makes this site, and the wider ecosystem of partner sites, more complex than a single hospital website. This page exists so that complexity is transparent, so that visitors, peers, regulators, solicitors, journalists and clinical colleagues can see at a glance what is owned, what is independent, and how the two are kept separate when clinical decisions are made.

Section 02

How owned entities are kept separate from independent authority

Independent authority signals (General Medical Council registration, university appointments, professional society memberships, peer-elected honours, peer-reviewed publications, journal editorial roles, third-party indexes) are surfaced on /credentials-and-verification. Owned organisations are listed separately on this page, and on individual pages under /projects-and-ecosystem.

In structured data, the same separation is enforced: Professor Lee's Person and Physician graph lists only independent organisations under "worksFor", "affiliation" and "memberOf". Owned organisations appear in their own Organization records on their respective project pages, with Professor Lee referenced as their founder.

In editorial framing, clinical content (what is the appropriate next step for this patient, this joint, this stage) is written from a clinical perspective. Where the treatment being discussed is one in which Professor Lee has a commercial interest, the interest is disclosed inline on the page and consolidated here.

Section 08

How clinical suitability is separated from commercial interest

Treatment selection for any individual patient is driven by the clinical picture (diagnosis, imaging, examination, comorbidities, function, goals) and not by where a given treatment is delivered or who supplies it. When Professor Lee considers a regenerative or named-procedure option for which he has a commercial interest, that interest is disclosed to the patient as part of the consent process, and an unbiased alternative pathway (including the option of further opinion) is offered as a matter of course.

Where the recommended treatment is provided by an entity Professor Lee does not own (an NHS pathway, another consultant, another provider) it is recommended on the same clinical merits and without preference for owned routes.

Section 09

How to raise a concern

If you have a concern about a specific disclosure on this page, or about how a commercial interest has been managed in your individual clinical care, please get in touch via the work-with-Professor-Lee page. Patient-care complaints relating to clinical episodes are also handled through the formal complaints route of the clinic that provided your care.
